Get Out the Vote 2008

Friday, October 31st, 2008

This was one of the 24 winning non-partisan posters that were selected for AIGA’s Get Out the Vote 2008 exhibit (as part of AIGA Design for Democracy) that were printed and distributed to be displayed at school dormitories, restaurants and laundromats in hopes of inspiring people to make it to the polls.  This is also one of my favorites, but all of the entries can be viewed here.  Most of them are also available for download, so go find the ones you like, print some out and put ‘em up everywhere!

Topo Azul

Topo Azul is a handmade, limited edition wallpaper and my favorite pattern design from Alan, the Gallant, a design studio from Barcelona. Click on the image to see a more detailed view.  Also, check out their awesome design work.

Poladroid

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Fun with Poladroid, the Polaroid™ image maker.  It’s a free application that will transform your digital photos into Polaroids… with dust and fingerprints, too, just like the real thing! The best part is that you can shake the print while you wait for it to develop. Srsly.

Thanks Mike!

Pepsi rebranding

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

And now for something ugly… This Pepsi rebranding is a joke… right?  It’s gotta be!  Then again, remember the 2012 Olympics logo? Also, is it just me, or does the bottle design for Pepsi look a little… well, phallic? In any case, I hope it’s back to the drawing board for this one.

Charlie Kratzer

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

Charlie Kratzer is a lawyer by day, but on his off hours he completely transformed the bare walls and ceilings of his basement with $10 worth of Sharpie to surround himself with Picasso, Churchill, Shakespeare and other great figures.  Impressive!  Read the inspiring article and see a 360º view of the space.

Concrete art

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

Intricate tendrils can dress up an otherwise dull concrete floor, as demonstrated here by Transparent House, a 3D design firm in San Francisco.
