5…6…7…8…. Who do we appreciate?

A FAULTY CHROMOSOME, that’s who!!!

My bestest friend and better half Eric, the guy behind the band A Faulty Chromosome, needs your help and you can show your appreciation by donating at least $1 to their Kickstarter and/or passing the word along to your indie-pop friends. Donations will go towards funding the release and promotion of their second album, Craving To Be Coddled So We Feel Fake-safe.

A lot has gone into the making of this album — the proverbial blood, sweat and tears… and of course, the ever perpetual credit card debt. I’ve heard it in its entirety and through its many different stages, and I can honestly (and impartially) say that it is even more awesome than the first and makes me beam with pride. But oh, if Eric could only continue doing what he loves and does best and actually not lose any more money, it would be terrific.

The point of this fundraiser isn’t to make any kind of profit. In fact, his first album was offered for free as a digital download, and the pressed CDs were available for a suggested donation of any amount, though most donations were $5 or less — just enough for shipping. So really, this fundraising is merely a means of covering the costs of recording, releasing, promoting and touring. There is no doubt that he will still end up paying out of his own tattered pockets, but through Kickstarter, we are sincerely hoping it would at least be considerably less than what was spent on the first album. Such are the challenges of an unsigned, but dedicated band.

You can hear rough mixes of “Scoffers vs. Beasts,” “Our Poor Boorish Head,” and “Tippy Toes” (my favorite!) on their MySpace page. I promise it will make you bob your head, tap your feet and even possibly force a smile on your pretty face. :)

Their first week of Kickstarter has brought them 12 backers and $483 — with $5195 and 50 days to go. The way Kickstarter works, the band will only get these donations if they can reach or exceed their set goal of $5678 by November 11… so every little bit counts (one dollar or even word-of-mouth, grassroots marketing)!

So, please help by showing some indie spirit, yeah? :) To learn more about the project, or to see the rewards with each pledge level, please visit their Kickstarter page.

Thank you so much for reading!
